1st Trip out on the Sunn

Also decided to grab myself a 'proper' hardtail mountain bike through cycle to work, its a Sunn Prim S3 2010 from Mud Dock:

I nicknamed it Beast but think its actually quite softcore! I like though and yesterday took Beast out with Daf's MuddyFox to do the Mendips Fat Tyres 'Black Down' trail. Its only classed as blue but aparently with the weather it goes up to Red, so we looked at it briefly online, mapped it out on the OS map and headed over there. Got wet, got really muddy, struggled/pushed our bikes up hills and cruised down again (Daf faster than me) I wondered why my arms were taking such a beating and I'd left my front forks locked out after the ride through town to get it home duh! Going down over the lose rock was awesome, scary as hell but still awesome and there were some good long downhills. Must admit we got lost mostly because we whimped out and took a short cut! But we were properly knackered by that point (about 2 or 3k from the car park). Looked up the details this morning and the trail is supposed to be 19k, I reckon with our detours, getting lost and skipping bits we ended up doing about 15k (about 9 miles) so I'm well chuffed at our first attempt. Feel totally broken today and glad I don't have to get back in the saddle this week! :)

Already looking at a trip to Wales for my birthday!

Plot Stuff - Beds, Heaps and New Neighbours

Yay its all hotting up on the plot, lots of action! With the help of Daf and Jules we've managed to:

• get two raised beds built, dug and in measuring 3ft by 8ft, they're covered up with muck and DPM to stop any nasty weeds growing and to warm up the soil
• bought lots of other wood from the Bristol Wood Recycling Project to make some more - but still no where near enough!
• bought lots of pallets for the compost bins, and Daf's been busy digging out what were the old overgrown heaps - discovering piles of carpet, underlay, lino and lots of other old rubbish hidden underneath! 
• raided a skip for lots of lovely old bricks to part do the steps
• most importantly downloaded a crop spreadhseet and decided on what I want to grow
• and finally...met our lovely neighbours Kath amd Ras and did a neighbourly favour lending our strimmer - they've gotten really stuck in, so looks like we might have some interplot competition going - GrowOff!
