Sunday Afternoon Ride with the Girlies

Spent the most energetic Sunday in a while out biking around Leigh Woods, Ashton Court and 50 Acre Wood on Sunday and had an awesome time. The sun was out and it was still freezing but so beautiful! We were 2 biking pro's and 3 newbies, newbies in the middle one pro front and one back. Ashton Court was packed out with people and it was struggle getting up to the top of the hill but the views over Bristol made it totally worth it, plus once we were at the top it was fairly flat through the woods and out down to Leigh Woods and Abbotts pool where we stopped for a while then we up and down fairly even wide track and off into the woods again. The final decent through the woods was unlike anything I've done yet, single trails that is basically a rutt full of slippy mud, I braved it after flooring it once and got almost to the bottom of the hill before we had to get off and walk then we were on the cycle path along the gorge and back home. Legs were aching and covered in mud but there were massive grins all round. Not sure if the best bit was the confidence our two pro riders gave us or the beautiful bits of bristol we'd never seen before, either way we had a wicked time and can't wait to do it again!

More riding, less gardening - suprise suprise!

After all out hard work on the plot, the bike has taken over. Managed to convince D to take them over to Pembroke last time we went and to Lys-Y-Fran reservoir trail. After having a look online at how difficult the trail was and finding this website http://www.walesdirectory.co.uk/tourist-attractions/Mountain_Bikes_and_Mountain_Bike_Trails/Wales9152.htm we thought we'd go for it, cycle trail didn't sound too bad. In real life it was constant up and down on loose shingle, streams running across the paths, rutted muddy lanes and pedestrians! Got almost half way round and thought I was going to be sick, i was pushing it way too hard, but the second half was much better, a lot more long downhills and with my uphill gear changes throwing me off, I walked a few of them. Emerged at the end victorious, covered in mud and grinning until we realised I'd left my gloves at a lookout point about half a mile back up the trail! Luckily D went back and got them :)
